Maori Fishing Canoe model. This is probably mid 19c.Constructed exactly

the same as the full size Canoe would have been. Probably Bay of Plenty.

North Island Rotorua District. As can be seen the Prow has part of it missing also

the Figure Head has been off at some time. and the middle seat is missing. In general

the Boat is rather fragile due to the ageing of the ties ( string ). It is nice having its

draining boards. Size 19in x 3.25 in. ( 48 x 8 cm ).This is a fine original piece, but it has

no provenance. I purchased  it from an Antique Dealer at an Antique Fair ,who bought it

at a Country Auction with an old collection of Model Boats. I have owned it for over

5 years.
